Where do you think this 100+year old attraction is?

How will you take the course?
Many of our students attend one of our centres located in several countries. You will then get the personal attention and be able to meet other students. However, that is not always possible and an excellent alternative will be to take the course directly with ATHE or one of our approved centres using online resources. Some of the advantages of this type of learning is -
- It is flexible and allows you to select the best time to study to suit your own circumstances. It also provides you the flexibility to remain in full-time employment. You can continue to earn while you learn. It is easy to combine home and work life with distance learning?
- You can study when and where it suits you best and you do not need to attend timetabled lectures or tutorials. You can also if need be take a study break or defer your studies for a short while.
- As a distance learning student, you will be registered as a student of the Association of Tourism and Hospitality Executives. On completion of the course you can become a full member.
- You can contact your local tutor for assistance and advice anytime. Any additional support is included in the normal cost of the programme.
What will happen:
As soon as you have received your course and username/password you can start your online studies. There are no time limits to complete the course. You will be able to look at typical questions so that you can have an idea of the level required. It is one of the most extensive online libraries in the world.
Your tutor whether at a center or online will continually guide you through the course. You will need to complete the whole course to obtain an ASET certificate. However if for some reason you are unable to do so, you will get an ATHE certificate for any succesfully completed module.
Delivery of course:
The delivery of the course will be subject to facilities and teachers available at the centre but normally we would expect the mandatory units to be completed first. That is not essential however and you can take any optional unit after completion of the first unit, again subject to centre approval. If you take the course online, then your tutor will guide you although you will receive guidance note in your initial pack.
Assessment method
The International Diploma in Travel and Tourism is assessed by means of a written examination. Some centres will have a short test after each unit to make sure that the student is proceeding satisfactory. At present dates of examination is flexible but from September, due to the increasing number of students we will select four dates throughout the year that the examination can be taken. If a student is taking the course by distance learning and there is no local centre, then we will make arrangements with the British Council or other educational institution in that area. In certain circumstances the examination can be taken online.
Learning materials
All ATHE learning resources are online which the student can access as and when required. You do have the option of hard copies. Most of our centres also have a library of resources for students either to browse through or use as references.
You will have your own personal tutor.
When you enrol a personal tutor will be assigned to you. Your tutor will be with you throughout your course. They will correct your assignments and give you any helpful advice on the way to achieving your education goals. Any time you have difficulty with a section of your course, you can contact your tutor. The tutors are all experienced in travel and tourism and are eager to pass on their knowledge. You can be confident during your studies that there is someone to help you at all times.
What next?
On completion of this Level 4 course students can apply for a BA Tourism Studies degree at Anglia Ruskin University as well as other Higher Education establishments. Students can also apply to go directly to Coventry University to take a Tourism Management degree.
In partnership with Anglia Ruskin University.

Why is the cost so low?
One reason why it is not low is quality. This is a well designed course which has satisfied an UK awarding body as well as Universities. The cost is low for two reasons, firstly the Association of Tourism and Hospitality Executives is registered at Companies House in the UK as a 'not for profit company' and secondly most of our business is done online. We do charge more for hard copies but students are invited to print the course themselves from the CD we supply should they wish to do so.
If you decide to take this course at one of our centres, you will need to discuss fees with that centre.
